How To Use Essentials Oils For Sleep

Sick of counting sheep? Spend those slumber hours blissfully dozing with these top tips to better quality sleep.

1. Set the Scent

Set the mood for slumber with a scent. In Essence Essential Oil Sleep Blend is perfect for your bedside diffuser.

One simple way to help you wind down and set the scene for slumber is to add a calming scent. InEssence’s Sleep range combines 100% pure essential oils of Lavender, Mandarin, Roman Chamomile and Valerian that aids in calming the mind ready for sleep.

Perfect for use with a massage or diffused in your room pre-bedtime it transforms the space instantly. The In Essence Therapeutic Diffuser features an auto-off safety feature, perfect if you drift off mid-diffuse, changeable light settings (candle mode is my favourite!) and a large water chamber for longer use periods.

It also uses electricity to negatively charge the air molecules around the room. This helps to purify the air, removing dust, pollen, bacteria and odours from your space, whilst releasing moisture to humidify the air. A solution for both hot and dry air during summer or winter when your heating is turned on.

2. Add a Blindfold

The slightest bit of light can be a dealbreaker for sensitive sleepers. Help create a dark sleeping environment with block out blinds or a sleeping mask. With plenty of silk alternatives now on the market, your sleep schedule has never looked so stylish.

3. Ditch the Devices.

100% Pure Essential Oils of Lavender, Mandarin, Roman Chamomile and Valerian are the scent for the perfect wind-down In Essence’s Sleep Blend.

The blue light from devices can trick your body into ignoring its usual circadian rhythm and make it harder to fall to sleep. Make it a happy to set aside the devices an hour or two before bed to make that transition easier. Need to keep working after dark? Set your phone and devices settings to Night Shift mode or install the app f.lux to your phone, tablet or laptop to reduce the blue light that interferes with your natural tiredness.

4. Cut the Caffeine

Need an afternoon cup to get you through the last few hours of work? Switch it to decaf to have less of an effect on your bedtime schedule.

5. Add a Soundtrack

Nothing beats dozing off to the sound of rain on your roof. Recreate this even on dryer nights with a sleep noise machine or an app like Noizio. Easily create a blend of background sounds to help quieten your mind and slip into sleep like Cafe chatter, rain, storms, ocean waves, rainforest and more. Each track can be layered and played on repeat for nightlong zzz’s.

6. Mist your Space

When it comes to creating the perfect sleep environment fresh sheets with a spray of In Essence’s Sleep Mist has to be the goal. Spray the mist on your bed linen pre-bedtime and as you inhale the scent you’ll notice your mind slowly calm and let you drift off in no time.

The In Essence Sleep range is available online here & from David Jones, Myer and pharmacies to easily add pieces to your bedtime routine.
