Nature's multi-tasker.

Technically, jojoba oil is not an oil but a liquid wax ester. It is similar to the sebum wax esters that our own skin makes. Jojoba has a longer shelf life than other oils that can become rancid. Jojoba has a huge range of benefits such as moisturising and softening the skin. Jojoba calms inflammation. It has a balancing effect on oily skin. You can use jojoba to remove makeup, to nourish nails and cuticles, and as a carrier for essential oils. Last year I started using In Essence jojoba as a treatment before washing my hair, and my hair has responded well to it. I have a flaky scalp that sometimes gets very itchy. When I've used jojoba as a hair treatment, sometimes the irritation and flakiness has lessened, but sometimes it hasn't. When I've used jojoba on my skin, I prefer to use an Australian golden jojoba that is not refined or heat-filtered. I bought the In Essence jojoba because I found it on sale. I assume that In Essence jojoba is purified - if it was golden jojoba, the label on the bottle would say so. For use as a hair treatment, it probably doesn't matter if jojoba is purified.
