Basil Origin
We source our Basil (Ocimum basilicum) from Egypt and India where it thrives in their warm, sun drenched fields to produce a strong, pungent, sweet and somewhat menthol aroma.
Basil Harvest
The harvest of our Basil in Egypt begins in early July. All basil is carefully gathered by hand, using a serrated-edge sickle, to keep the plant and leaves in tact. Once harvested, the basil is placed carefully in baskets and sun dried to keep its bright green colour and then steam distilled from the whole flowering herb.
